Emilie Brown is an Art Therapist and for the past 2 years has worked as part of the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team at UMHL. She also provides art therapy for children at Phoenix Creative Psychotherapy Centre, Limerick. She created Unfurl Art Therapy private practice Spring 2021, based in Killaloe, Co. Clare. She practices in a client centred approach, supporting a person's innate capacity for healing and growth, using the creative arts as a tool for expression and meaning making in some of life's more difficult experiences.

Graduated from University College Cork in 2017, completed a masters degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Currently completing the higher specialist training scheme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and am the lead NCHD for the Child and Maternal Health Directorate in University Hospital Limerick. 



Karen Joash is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at Queen Charlottes and Chelsea Hospital in London. She is the lead for perinatal mental health and is passionate about women and their families being supported. She is the course director for the annual perinatal mental health course at the RCOG. She also sits on the perinatal mental health group at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and had been involved in the set up of perinatal mental health networks across London. She has just been appointed to the Head of School role for Obstetrics and gynaecology at HEE, London.


Kristyn Dunlop 

Obstetrics & Gynaecology SHO

Kristyn is currently a Year 2 Basic Specialist Trainee in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University College Hospital Galway. She has previously worked in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University Maternity Hospital Limerick. Kristyn graduated from the Graduate Entry Medicine Programme at The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2019 with First Class Honours. Prior to her medical degree, Kristyn completed an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology from the University of Toronto, Canada. During this time, she published two papers in the field of fetal lung physiology in high-impact physiology journals. Kristyn also completed a Master of Science Degree in Physiology from Western University, Canada. Kristyn’s Master of Science thesis focused on the area of fetal and placental physiology and has culminated in three publications to date in high-impact scientific journals as well as various manuscripts awaiting publication. Kristyn was invited to present her research as platform presentations at both national and international conferences.


Dr Liz McDonald is former Chair of the Perinatal faculty at the RCPsych (2012-16), former Chair of the Pan London PMH Clinical Network (2013-2017) and Hon Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist at ELFT. She worked clinically and in service development in east London, was a Guideline Development Group member for the NICE APMH guidelines (2007 and 2014), was a regional assessor for psychiatric maternal deaths and was a member of the IAG for MBRRACE. She is Clinical Lead for the NHSE funded Bursary Project for training perinatal psychiatrists at the RCPsych and is a visiting lecturer at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. She has extensive experience of teaching at regional, national and international levels. She has been an active mentor of trainee and consultant psychiatrists. She is currently co-editing a Seminar Series Perinatal Psychiatry textbook with the RCPsych and Cambridge University Press.


Ms. Lucy Warwick-Guasp is a teacher and consultant offering training to practitioners working with families experiencing pre and postnatal illness. The training allows participants to explore specific experiences of LGBTQ people and how to ensure that services are inclusive of LGBTQ parent families. Lucy is able to combine her extensive experience of delivering LGBTQ equalities training gained whilst working at Stonewall; with being a same sex parent; and with her lived experience of postnatal depression and being treated at Bethlem Mother and Baby Unit, South London.


Mas Mahady Mohamad MRCPI MRCPsych is a Consultant Psychiatrist with the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team in University Maternity Hospital Limerick. He is a member of the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health National Oversight and Implementation Group and part of the Editorial board responsible for the development of national patient leaflets and a national information app. A graduate of University College Cork, he is passionate about promoting the importance of perinatal and public mental health. 


Dr Margo Wrigley is a consultant psychiatrist and currently works as the HSE’s Lead for the National Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Programme, while she is also the clinical lead for the ADHD in Adults National Clinical Programme. She has worked in the public health service in Ireland since 1988 and set up the first psychiatry of old age service in the country in 1989 on which all other services are modelled. She was the Lead for Part 2: Specialist Mental Health for Older People, National Clinical Programme for Older People, which was launched in 2019. She was the Executive Clinical Director of the Dublin North City Mental Health Service from 2009 to 2014 and National Clinical Advisor on Mental Health from 2014 to 2017.


Ms. Melissa Browne works in the Department of Nursing & Midwifery, Faculty of Education and Health Sciences, University of Limerick. Shecompleted her Master’s Degree in Health Promotion at the National University of Ireland Galway having undertaken her primary BSc degree in General Nursing and a Higher Diploma in Midwifery in the University of Limerick. She had a keen interest in research having experience working as a research nurse in Clinical Trials, University Hospital Limerick and as a research assistant in the University of Limerick as part of a research team looking at the area of Perinatal Mental Health.


Dr Mendinaro Imcha is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at University Maternity Hospital Limerick and is the lead for the Perinatal Mental Service. Her practice involves care for complex obstetric cases with specialisation in maternal medicine.She completed her medical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London prior to her initial Consultant post at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.


She is an adjunct faculty member at theUniversity of Limerick and is involved in training the students of the Graduate Entry Medical Programme. She is a trainer for the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland with responsibility for guiding and mentoring junior doctors. She is also a trainer accredited by The British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.


Dr Imcha has taken on vital leadership responsibilities through key administrative positions at the University of Limerick Hospitals Group (ULHG). She is the Chief Clinical Information Officer for ULHG,whose role is to support and enhance the application of Information Technology in clinical care. She was the first Chairperson of ULHG’s Quality Improvement Committee tasked with the duties of sustaining a quality and safety culture, as well as building the infrastructure for systemic quality and safety practice.


She is an alumnus of Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, University of Limerick, King’s College London, as well as Dr MGR University in India. She has achieved Memberships with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom and with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.


Pui-Sze Cheung is an IACAT accredited music therapist, a PhD researcher, and a pianist. Pui-Sze is currently delivering the first music-based intervention for patients attending the Specialists Perinatal Mental Health Service at the University Maternity Hospital Limerick (UMHL). She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, MA in Music Therapy, and qualifications of both classical and contemporary music. She was also trained in specialised Sound BirthingTM Methods including the Prenatal Music Bonding, Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth (MTABC), and Creative Arts Birthing to use creative arts to support the wellbeing of the families throughout prenatal, childbirth, and postnatal experience. Her clinical experience includes working with women attending the perinatal mental health service, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with mental health challenges, neurodegenerative disease, and intellectual and physical disabilities. She is also a researcher at the School of Allied Health and a tutor of the MA Music Therapy Programme at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick.She has led and been involved in various perinatal music therapy and arts in health research projects and publications.


Dr. Sarah Hanley

Sarah Hanley graduated with honours from University College Dublin School of Medicine 2012. Sarah currently works with Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, in the final two years of Higher Specialist Training, General Adult Psychiatry with College of Psychiatrists of Ireland. Medical Psychotherapy is a sub-specialist interest of Sarah’s, having completed training in Mentalization-Based Treatment, Msc. (Distinction) in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Trinity College Dublin, 2020. Current research interests lie in the application of Mentalization and Parental Reflective Function in Pregnancy and Peripartum period.

Eileen Ronan - RM, RGN


Eileen is a Director of Midwifery at University maternity Hospital, Limerick since 2019. Trained as a midwife in London , where worked as a member of community Midwifery team providing homebirth and Domino services. On returning to work as a midwife in Limerick has worked in all clinical areas of maternity services in UMHL. As Director of Midwifery she leads and chairs many committees including midwifery supportive care pathways, development of pathways for Covid19 care. Is a member of UL Hospital Group executive team. Currently is completing studies in Masters in Leadership Development.

Dr Navroop Johnson is a consultant psychiatrist in general adult mental health services in Limerick Mental Health Services. He finished his medical graduation in India and engaged in rural medicine for 2 years before moving to Ireland to pursue his basic and higher training in psychiatry. He finished his psychiatry membership exams, with the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK, in 2009. He then successfully attained an Higher Specialist Training (HST) with the College of Psychiatrists, Ireland in 2010. He finished his HST in 2013 and was successful in attaining a Consultant Psychiatrist post after in University Hospital Kerry. He was instrumental in bringing DBT as a service to his catchment area in South Kerry, having attained his training in DBT in 2012. He is an active member of the Personality Disorders Special Interest Group in College of Psychiatrists Ireland. He sought formal training in perinatal psychiatry as well in 2017 and completed a post-masters course in Healthcare Leadership (Leading Care 1) in 2019.
